In celebration of Women's Day, the Society of Women Engineers joined up with IBM Spain at their Client Center in Madrid, Spain to deliver an interactive day focused around Innovation and Technology as Drivers of Talented Entrepreneurship.
The morning kicked off with a welcome address from Carmen Garcia, IBM Commerce Director and Executive Sponsor Spanish Women Council. Carmen runs the IBM Commerce business in IBM for all industries, with a team sales, services and marketing team for IBM Commerce Business Unit the South of Europe (Spain, Portugal, Greece and Israel). She has spent more than 24 years in the Information Technology industry, in different sales positions at IBM, Digital and Hewlett-Packard. She has led different sales teams and important 'end to end' complex business and IT transformation engagements (software, hardware and services) across multiple industries. She has also worked in IBM Europe in a business development position. Her main area of industry expertise is banking.
Then shortly after, expert panelist took the stage to discuss how innovation and technology has shaped entrepreneurship in Spain and around Europe. Moderated by Anunciación López, CEO Business Publications Spain, the following panelist shared their stories:
The day ended with a demo on Watson and Cloud in Action, as well as a presentation on the Society of Women Engineers projects around Europe. More than 90 attendees – both women and men – had the opportunity to connect, share and learn.
